: a bicyclic crystalline hydrocarbon C7H12 that is the parent compound of various terpenoids (as camphor and fenchone) and that is obtained by adding ethylene to cyclopentadiene under heat and pressure and then hydrogenating; 1,4-methano-cyclohexane; bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane — called also norcamphane
